As soon as I click on an email to have it open in the preview pane on the right side, Outlook takes literally 5 minutes to display the email.
It takes so long that Vista says it's "not responding" and gray's out the entire program. I've checked task manager, nothing strange there. I have all of the Office Updates and Windows Updates. This is a fresh install of Vista and Office. In fact, there's only a dozen or so emails that have been received so far. In case anyone needs to know, the hardware is as follows: AMD Athlon 64 1. Joined Feb 26, Messages 2. My windows vista runs fine. But my Outlook retrieve's mail painfully slow As does Windors Mail. It sends e-mails fine. A co-worker has the exact same computer, set-up etc, on same server and internet without issues. I am running Windows Vista Ultimate on a Windows server.
I have searched without much in temrs of seemingly viable options. It is slow with all types of e-mails with or without attachments. But for exampe, it will take up to 1 minute to retrieve a very basic one line e-mail without attachments.
Thanks in advance for any guideance. EAFiedler Retired Moderator. Joined Apr 25, Messages 14, Hi jyearout Please do not create duplicate threads. I have been importing bits of the pst file to experiment, all is nice and fast then i import contacts, inbox then when i import calendar it slows to a crawl again!!!!!!!!
Any ideas. I have tried all vista updates, all drivers updated and a yes all office updates and service packs have been installed but without improving the speed of outlook When I imported my contacts -- my machine slowed to a crawl. Hi and thanks for your reply but it made no difference! I will try and delete my calendar next and see if that improves the speed, I will post my results as soon as i figure out how to delete the contents!!
I used the same import for the contacts as well as all the other folders in my backed up pst file. Yes, on deleting my calender and re-inporting my contacts its running fine!!!! But this is only a work around. So my calendar contents was to fault. It helped to: open tools, securitycenter, add-inns and down in the window check the checkbox "use settings for macrosaftey for installed add-ins" I then closed and restarted Outlook and had to agree or not agree to installed add-ins.
I agreed to everyone exept the one from Cyberlink. It now seems to work very nice. I have a problem that Outlook makes some of my calendar objects repeted even though i have not choosen them to be. Have anyone else had this problem and know how to fix it?
Microsoft released a fix. Here's a few threads which might help:. Another thing about Outlook is the slow auto complete which occurs because of AV. Again, I found the fix on groovyPost. My Outlook is sending slowing. I bought my computer a few years ago so I am still using Windows.
